I’ve done a lot of work on this image, but I think this is the final version.
The title is draws on the work of Julia Kristeva, who uses the word ‘chora’ to describe a very early state of human consciousness that is pre-linguistic and pre-conceptual. In this space of fluid maternal-infant connection, the infant is dominated by drives rather than language. Philosophically, the word ‘chora’ represents a “receptacle” or “in-between” space.
